However, small and medium sized businesses have been left behind by the recent boom in solar due to a lack of accessible financing options. At Sunstone, our mission is to fix this problem and democratize access to solar for all businesses.
Our company is built on the three pillars of climate, technology and finance –each equally important –and our team reflects that. We’ve sold and installed solar systems, founded and scaled climate tech businesses, developed technology for global companies and been bankers at the top firms. But most importantly, we are moms, dads and global citizens who want to have a lasting positive impact on the world...

Josh has spent the past 15+ years founding and operating businesses in the solar installation, development and financing space including Astrum Solar and Sunlight Financial. He also co-founded Legends of Learning. Having been a solar installer and business owner himself, Josh is passionate about supporting both Sunstone’s solar developer partners, and the commercial customers they serve, through Sunstone’s mission. Josh started his career as an M&A lawyer.
Sumbul has a versatile skillset in building large-scale, complex secure systems and product development for various parts of the technology stack from her experience at startups and big-tech cloud and media organizations. Her goal is to secure, simplify and implement the latest technology tools and practices to automate and digitalize Sunstone's business processes in order to remove friction and serve our partners and borrowers.

Ashley has 15+ years as an attorney, representing lenders, borrowers and developers in a variety of transactions, including financing, acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. She is excited to help finance solar projects and promote sustainable energy use.
Mike brings 20+ years of experience in the small to medium sized business lending space to Sunstone. His primary goal is to implement a loan process that is as simple as possible for borrowers and partners, and ensures Sunstone has the information it needs to approve good, quality loans (so we are here to serve you for many years to come)!
Duncan has worked in solar on both the development and installation of projects as well as in solar specific financing for over ten years and helps to bring the installer’s perspective to Sunstone’s product and processes. At Sunstone, Duncan works to identify best in class solar companies and ensures our partners have an excellent experience.
Scott applies his extensive background in financial services and investment banking at Barclays and UBS to solving new financing challenges in the commercial solar space. He's thrilled to have an opportunity to make a difference for small businesses and for the broader energy transition. At Sunstone, he focuses on building great loan products for borrowers and great partnerships with financial institutions.
Susan has over 15 years of experience in financial services and climate technology, including at Sustainable Opportunities Acquisition Corp., Capital One and Goldman Sachs. She is excited to apply her dual passion for finding creative financing solutions for customers and tackling climate change to advancing Sunstone's mission.
